Working with children is both exciting and challenging. Teachers are fully dedicated, and when they see the kids’ interest and enthusiasm, they know their efforts are well worth it.
Coherent Solutions launched its training initiatives in 2017 to help high school students explore careers in technology. The program began with a small group of students who participated in a Python course.
The initiative has grown into a center offering programs for employees’ children internationally. New courses in Machine Learning, UX Design, and Scratch have been added to complement the existing Java and Python programs.
Preparing for lessons is a complex process that requires attention to many details. Trainers use various online platforms and interactive teaching methods to engage students. Alexandra Sidorovich, a full-time trainer at the company and the lead developer of the programs, shares her approach:
“I first tested the course on my daughter, observing what works for her, where she has difficulties, and where she gets bored. I also pay attention to the games children are playing so I can adapt the tasks to their interests. I always keep the lesson plan close because they can easily distract me from the main topic, and I need to guide them back to it. Quite often, I have to improvise."
During the courses, children often draw creative pictures, and upon completing a course, they receive digitized stickers of their own artwork and that of their peers.
For trainers, the greatest reward is seeing children complete one course and immediately enroll in the next, along with receiving positive feedback from parents. Parents share stories about how their children discovered the world of machine learning and used it to train models to recognize images of their toy pets or create quizzes in Scratch that they can’t wait to test on their parents.
Coherent Solutions continues to expand its educational offerings by introducing new courses and bringing back popular ones. The goal is to shape a future rich with opportunities and knowledge for the next generation.
