The client is a leading provider of financial management software for the public sector.
Business Challenge
As a startup, the client had a concept of what they wanted to build – a web-based application allowing the financial directors of government entities to share their budgets, funding, and spending information with their associated communities – giving full transparency to their constituents. The idea was to create an online interface allowing government agencies to upload and define their budgets and spending while enabling a public UI to easily navigate and understand this data.
The client approached Coherent Solutions to make this concept a reality after being referred to them by another Coherent Solutions’ client to take on the opportunity.
Solution
The initial project approach included 7 JavaScript engineers skilled in both Angular and Node. Building the foundational application took almost one year, and it continues evolving. Coherent Solutions’ team leads guided the client’s leadership on managing the scope, quality, and teams recommended to grow and expand their solution capabilities. The result is a dedicated team of 30 engineers who have built an intuitive, feature-rich financial application suite that continues to expand in functionality.
Results
From the initial concept, the Coherent Solutions team has since been tasked with expanding the core capabilities into a broader financial suite that would enable the client’s customers to build budgets for workforces, operations, and capital to efficiently plan for large projects such as school construction, etc. This was further expanded into a more in-depth communications suite, allowing their customers to take multi-page budget reports and convert them into a web-based “site” that could then be exported only if needed.
